ZANU-PF Secretary for Information and Publicity Ambassador Simon Khaya Moyo has urged party members to prepare for the forthcoming conference to be held in Mashonaland East next month saying all dues should be paid.

Cde Moyo was speaking at a Matabeleland South Provincial Coordinating Committee in Gwanda yesterday.

“Contributions for the conference are needed, we understand that it is a very difficult moment for the people but they have to be made. We need to do the best. Politburo members have to pay $5 000, Central Committee $2 500, and provincial members $1 000 each,” he said.

Cde Moyo said it was important that members of the party have to contribute as the party belongs to all. He also spoke on the need for all invited delegates to turn up for accreditation at the designated places and dates.

Cde Moyo also updated party members on what was discussed during the Politburo meeting last week.

“We spoke during the Politburo  that we must have a War Veterans League just like we have Women and Youth Leagues. We are not the final authority but we recommend to the Central Committee for ratification, meaning the constitution has to change and that is what we are working on,” he said.

He said the meeting also discussed about District Coordinating Committees.

“DCCs were not there in the Constitution as they had been removed but we are reinstating them. So far Harare has been done and we are moving to Bulawayo Province. This will be done and completed next week,” he said.

Cde Moyo said Matabeleland South must relive its past glory by being an exemplary province in terms of party organisation and leadership.

“This is a province which the late Dr Joshua Nkomo hails from, including other luminaries like Cdes JZ Moyo, TG Silundika and Edward Ndlovu and other prominent leaders in this country therefore we cannot let them down by behaving recklessly. We must always put unity first because without unity there is no peace and without peace there is no development.

“We must follow and lead by the dictates of the party Constitution and we must always remember that Government is a product of the party. The party is supreme and it must lead by the norms and values of the liberation struggle. We must not take the party into our own pockets as the party cannot fit in the pockets of anybody. We must always show unity of purpose.”
