BEING part of a choir, for many church going members ends the moment the pastor ushers the closing prayer announcing the end of the service. Few seem to get the opportunity to explore their singing talent of praising the Lord further than the church podium.

Despite it being known that church has produced greatest secular music singers like Whitney Winston, Usher Raymond and R Kelly few people seem to notice the power of the talented youth the church holds.

Not straying far, a member of Vocal X, Chelsea Mguni is proving that singing in a church choir can be epitome of one’s musical career, without necessarily straying into circular music.

After being noticed by Rainbow Entertainment Promotion Group based in UK, the Vocal X member is set to rub shoulders with the likes of South Africa Gospel Legend Solly Mahlangu at an event slated for 6 May in Birmingham, New Bingley Hall.

Taking to the stage as a solo artiste and an international supporting act for the Obrigado hit maker who started ministering through music at the tender age of ten years, Mguni will be put to a Herculean task to prove that she indeed has what it takes to usher praise music into another realm.

“I am very humbled by this opportunity that I have been offered by the organisers from UK. I believe they came to choose me after they watched videos of my performances, of which it shows that I have been doing something that is positive, as someone who ministers through music,” said Mguni.

Mguni who is no stranger to performing to a large audience said she is up for the task as it just an extension of what she is used to do, but only on a different setup.

“After being contacted by the promotion contacts from the UK it appealed to me that they noticed I have what it takes to make it there. As a result I have to say that am really humbled by the offer they have given me to be part of this show,” she said.
