VUNGU Constituency Member of Parliament Cde Omega Sibanda on Friday hosted an all stakeholders’ meeting at Maboleni Seconday School in Lower Gweru meant to galvanise the constituency to work as a unit in line with the ruling Zanu-PF party and President Mnangagwa’s vision to ensure development.

Cde Sibanda said the meeting was attended by Zanu-PF chairpersons of all districts in the constituency, central committee members, war veterans, youths, women’s league members as well as heads of all Government departments.

“We had over 500 people from village heads to heads of Government departments and the party leadership at district level and some central committee members and even chiefs. We are in the process of coming up with a Constituency Development Committee and we had to come together and discuss issues affecting us as people of Vungu and see who can solve a particular issue. That is why even heads of Government departments were there.

“We had headmasters, heads of clinics, rural district officials and church leaders from various denominations so that we pull together in one direction as directed by our President, Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa,” said Cde Sibanda.
The MP said, among other issues, villagers raised the issue of shortage of grazing land, as some people had settled themselves on land previously reserved for grazing and cropping.

“We tasked officials from the relevant department to look at the issue of people who have resettled themselves on land previously earmarked for animal grazing and even cropping.

“There are some people living on stream banks as well and all those issues are being looked at so that people are resettled properly in an orderly manner as per the guidelines of the Government. But I want to make it clear that no one will be rendered homeless. The office of the District Administrator and the Lands officials are working on that,” he said.

Cde Sibanda added that there were various projects in the pipeline meant to uplift the lives of the people.

“We have to be proactive and participate in party and Government empowerment programmes. Zimbabwe is open for business and Vungu is surely open for business and development as well.”
