DESPITE the last round of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League matches to be played today being dubbed Super Sunday by the media, it will be a Black Sunday for the two teams that will join Bantu Rovers and Chiredzi FC in waving goodbye to topflight football.Going into today’s games, only Bantu and Chiredzi are confirmed to be heading for the exit but there are other six more teams who are on the chopping block.

Chapungu United, Shabanie Mine, Triangle United, Black Rhinos, Harare City and Buffaloes are all at risk of playing in the unfashionable Division One next year.

All the teams will be hoping for nothing but a win to ensure high chances of survival.

Airmen, Chapungu take on Highlanders at Hartsfield Rugby Ground this afternoon and the Gweru-side will be hard pressed to come up with a victory against a Bosso side that has only won one match in the past six games.

It will not be an easy task for the Airforce side as Highlanders are eager to close the season with a win after a dismal performance in the second half that saw them being eliminated from the title race, despite showing so much promises in the first stanza of the season.

A win for Chapungu would see them survive the chop while a loss would depend on the results of the other matches but the airmen’s coach, John Nyikadzino feels they are not at threat of relegation as they are better positioned to survive even if they lose their game.

Triangle United who have been on a rebound and have won three of their last four matches face a disjointed Shabanie Mine who could be staring the exit in the face.

Players at the Zvishavane side have reportedly not trained since Monday, as they demand winning bonuses from games against Bantu Rovers and Highlanders.

Shabanie vice-chairman Fidelis Chimedza was quoted admitting the crisis.

“The situation is very bad. I am running around to get some money and I think we will pay them $125 each tomorrow.”
