ONE hundred Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) officers on Friday graduated to become section commanders after undergoing a Section Commanders Tactics course at 1:1 Combat Group (Induna Barracks). The students who comprised 21 females and 79 men underwent an 18-week tactics training period. Speaking at the graduation ceremony, the reviewing officer, Commander Bulawayo District Colonel Rantham Moyo said he was pleased that the officers managed to sail through the course.

“I am happy to announce that all the 100 students managed to sail through without any hassles. I am reliably informed that they all managed to assimilate the concepts that were delivered to them by the instructional team. No one dropped out due to ill health or indiscipline,” said Col Moyo.

He said the course will enhance the soldiers’ professional knowledge and ability to command, control and administer troops under their command both in peace and war time.

Col Moyo said the course comes at a time when the economy is still to recover from the effects of sanctions and the army had not been spared.

“These illegal sanctions have seen the army calling upon its students to make contributions to augment the meagre resources at their disposal,” he added.

The graduands were trained in deploying weapons and troops under command, apply first aid to injured troops, map reading and navigate across the country in all-weather terrain, counter an enemy in a low intensity set-up and to apply basic principles of battle procedure to name a few.
