ZANU-PF candidate for Insiza North National Assembly constituency Cde Farai Taruvinga has embarked on a drive to facelift the constituency with a long term vision of having a town in the district.

Cde Taruvinga, who won the ZNCC Entrepreneur of the Year award and is a successful businessman and miner said the projects were meant to empower the constituency by creating jobs.

In April this year Cde Farai, as he is fondly known, embarked on the construction of a multi-million dollar upmarket business complex, which he said would generate activity in the remote area of Gwatemba in the district.

“I have lived in Filabusi since 1984. It has always been my vision to develop and create employment for this constituency. In terms of development and job creation I have done quite a lot. Currently I have created for and employed about 500 people in Insiza District.

“I am the director of Progress Mine, Filabusi Abattoir, Skuta Irrigation Scheme, Anradel Cattle Ranch and Marvel Shopping and Leisure Centre, which is in near completion and will also employ close to 40 people,” said Cde Farai.

He said he was also working on constructing sports grounds for schools in the district as well as recreational play grounds for children in the community.

“I want to empower the less privileged and I have so far adopted many children, whom I assist with school fees from primary up to university level. I’m supporting 25 children. I am also sponsoring various sporting disciplines such as netball, soccer and volleyball to mention but a few,” said Cde Farai.

He said in future he wants to create self sustainable vocational institutes that would equip youths with various skills.

“Another priority is the construction of clinics, schools, road networks and safe water sources,” he said.

Cde Farai’s multi-million complex captures a modern architectural structure that is situated along the Bulawayo-Zvishavane  highway.

“It is my hope and dream to have this growth point acquire town or city status in the future, through such developmental initiatives.

“The shopping complex will mainly be selling agricultural produce; these will include stock feed, seed as well as veterinary medicines and apparatus. We will also have a fresh produce outlet where we will be selling an array of horticultural crops from our farm and a butchery selling beef and beef products including meat from small stock like goats, sheep, pigs and chickens,” said Cde Farai.
