YOUTHS have been urged to continue working towards the total emancipation of the economy and eradicate poverty in African countries.

A delegate who attended the Fifth China Africa Young Leaders Forum held in Bulawayo last week said the youths needed to take cognisance of machinations by some foreigners who are keen on using them.

Zanu-PF Central Committee member Cde Sibongile Sibanda said  neo-imperialism was still evident in Africa, but it was upon the youths to work hard and counter such.

“Comrades, it is no secret that we are fighting a war of generations, fighting for total independence by disconnecting from the continued exploitation of African resources by our former colonisers,” she said.

Cde Sibanda said Africa’s development has been hindered by western countries that continue to foster their so-called democratic ideologies.

She said the Western countries were using Non-Governmental Organisations, that come preaching the gospel of democracy while pursuing an agenda of neo-imperialism.

“Non-Governmental Organisations and Civil Society Organisations all around Africa preach the gospel of democracy yet this democracy that they talk of has as a primary factor among its tenets, the issue of human rights, which should never be dictated to us from Washington DC.

Democracy should be home grown, useful to the ones executing it rather than a divide and rule mechanism by the West.”

She went on to commend China for its resilience in the face Western onslaught on its principles and foundations.

“I commend the Communist Party of China for showing resilience and standing firm against all its adversaries, who seek to fight its ideology.

Within the same vein, our party Zanu-PF has the Chitepo School of Ideology whose primary purpose is to teach the youth and instil discipline.”

Besides the hosts, Zimbabwe, other countries that participated during the meeting but through online included China, Kenya, South Africa, Ethiopia, Lesotho, Tanzania, Mali, Uganda, Rwanda, Guinea, Burundi and Gabon.
